  • What are the features of LifeGuard's medical alarm systems?

    Fall detection - This feature is available in our LifeGuard SmartTracker medical alarm. It can automatically detect if a person has fallen and will send a medical alert to you, to your patient’s emergency contacts, or to our emergency response centre. Fall detection can be particularly useful for individuals who may have difficulty getting up after a fall.


    GPS tracking - Our medical alarm systems come with a GPS location tracking feature. It can be used to keep track of a user's whereabouts in case they wander off or become lost. This feature is especially useful for carers who want to know the location of the person they're caring for at all times.


    Two-way communication - This feature, which is available in several of our medical alarm systems, allows users to stay in touch with you or their designated contacts even when they become incapacitated or are not near their unit.   • How do LifeGuard's medical alarm for carers work?

    1. In the event of an emergency, your patient should press the button on their LifeGuard SmartHome LGX, SmartLink Medi Guardian, or mobile medical alarm. We can also supply a Fall Sensor that activates an alarm when a fall is detected.
    2. The alert will be received by a nurse at our 24/7 emergency response centre. A two-way speaker on your patient’s emergency unit will be used to interact with them by the nurse, who has access to your patient’s personal information and medical history. Your patient doesn’t need to be close to their medical alarm to be heard by the nurse.
    3. The nurse will assess the situation to determine what kind of help is needed. Depending on the severity of the problem, the nurse will contact either you, a family member, neighbour, friend, or emergency services.
    4. If the nurse is unable to establish verbal communication with your patient, an ambulance will be dispatched to their area. Whatever the situation may be, both you and your patient may rest confident that help is on the way.

    * The INS LifeGuard has no control over the local environmental conditions that can impact network coverage and voice quality on the medical alarm devices. Even if we cannot connect with your patient via the medical alarm system, rest assured that we have received the signal and will send help.

  • What other services are included?

    Free Nurse Chat and Health Info Line

    If your patient is feeling lonely and needs someone to chat to, they can phone an INS Nurse at any time of day or night. In addition, they can get in touch with INS LifeGuard whenever they need information or assistance. Our nurses can speak with their doctor or other primary care providers upon request.


    Welfare Checks

    We are available to conduct welfare checks following hospital discharge and when you and their family members ask us to.

    Your patient can download the INS LifeGuardian® app to get access to more INS LifeGuard Ecosystem services, such as TeleHealth and the INS LifeGuardian Connect® app. For a small fee each month, they can also turn their phone into a mobile alarm.

    You can either buy TeleHealth products from LifeGuard or use the devices you already have. With the Free TeleHealth Service, you or a family member of your patient can monitor the results, or they can have an INS LifeGuard registered nurse look at the results with our Professional TeleHealth Service.
